We (the people) could have offered to buy the Kushner white elephant at 666 5th Avenue for 6 billion, keep the change, to be spent on the wall and taxed as art. Unfortunately, the Saudis beat us to it on August 3, 2018.

Pelosi & Schumer really won’t trade border security for the DACA recipients?? Seems like a good deal to me. I guess insuring Trump doesn’t get a “win” is more important.

POTUS offered double for DACA from what the Dems were asking (from 800,000 to 1,600,000…Dems said no, Schumer shutdown). Stating they opposed it because because of “chain migration”. POTUS required 4 pillars to fix immigration, 1) End lottery immigrants 2) fix Visa’s 3) fix chain migration 4) DACA

Trump is now in “Wag The Dog” mode. His supporters really like his movie – it provides them with a comfortable and emotionally engaging alternative reality. It’s also less physically unheathy than taking oxycontin (their other drug of choice).

I was surprised when I heard that more Americans die every year from drug overdoses, with most of those drugs coming from Mexico, than 10 years of the Vietnam War. Is this accurate? If so something drastic needs to be done immediately.

He didn’t even submit an addendum to the original 1.6 B he asked for. For a bill to pass it has to go through appropriations first. Even with the 5.7 B it wouldn’t be built logistically until after 2020. No reason to maintain a shutdown. Traffickers primarily use the ports of entry and sea, not desert to move drugs.

Although I agree. I feel that the democrats should approach this government shutdown with real concern for the people affected by it. I mean you can easily dig underneath a wall/barrier. Imo funding for better technology will help in the long run than an outdated concept that will not do much of a difference to deter illegal immigration. Really wish people would look at this at a logical perspective

From my point of view it’s the Democrats trying to limit freedom (2A) and acting like authoritarians (censoring free speech on social media platforms, preventing conservatives from speaking at campuses) at least I’m able to give examples. I’m all ears

    • Hedil Seto
      January 12, 2019 @ 3:50 am

Comparing wild animals to humans is laughable. The survival instincts of a human, especially those trying to enter the U.S. illegally will kick in, doing whatever it takes to survive and have a better life, even if it means ignoring the law.

The issue with a wall/barrier is that:
      1. It is costly and will require a lot of maintenance per year. (750mil a year)
      2. It is an outdated form of technology, sure it may have worked centuries ago, but in the era of information, expect creative ways of entering a country illegally.
      3. Building on property belonging to private citizens will ensue a legal battle that will likely end in favor of the landowner
      4. Wall/barrier won’t be finished in Trump’s lifetime, which will likely end up halted and scrapped, or a huge colossal waste of money.

Although you might think a wall/barrier sounds fantastic and the best deterrent against illegal immigration and the flow of drugs into the U.S., I beg of you to look this in a logical, economical, and ethical lens.

    • House of the Rising Sun
      January 12, 2019 @ 5:56 am

D G I agree, walls are effective. In combination with high tech devices, very effective. Our government wastes huge amounts of money, money is not the issue, it’s all about politics. Anybody who would take some time to research will find that many countries are currently building barriers, especially Europe because they know firsthand the devastating consequences of allowing free migration. Many have tried to warn us, but some will not listen until they experience it for themselves, and then it will be too late. Btw Don’t let Diane Hulstine bother you, I’ve encountered her on other sites, Low IQ troll.

    KJV Bible. Proverbs 6:12-19
[12]A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
    [13]He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
[14]Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
[15]Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
[16]These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
[17]A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
[18]An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
[19]A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

    KJV Bible. Proverbs 12:22
[22]Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
    KJV Bible. Proverbs 17:15
[15]He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
    KJV Bible. Psalms 59:12
[12]For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.
