It will be forgotten in a month and the next angry people will be less effective. You need to replace NRA people in Congress to ever see this legislation effort, it can be done in States like Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Indiana. etc. States that do not have a wild west identity who are angry enough about this issue to go out and vote.

I went to fin feather fur in Middleburg on Saturday for their sales flyer. They had a deal on m48’s (surplus bolt action). Left when I saw how many people were lined up at the gun counter. Gun scares just make gun sales higher. Try not pushing gun control after a shooting and in the dead of night and you might have more luck.

Everyone thinks that providing more mental health services will reap huge benefits – but keep in mind that at least half of the mass murderers were not known to the mental health community or to law enforcement. The mother of one of the Columbine shooters has a revealing Ted Talk video. Most “mental health issues” are silent and hidden, even to family members, and treatment results in managing the problem but is rarely a cure. Cruz had access and received mental health services his whole life, then chose to stop – just months before the shooting. So don’t lull yourselves into thinking that background checks alone, is sufficient.

Yup, which takes us back to the elimination of involuntary psych facilities back in the 70’s – a lot of those folks got dumped on the streets. (Primarily due to patient abuse and loss of all civil rights). I was a nursing home administrator in the 90’s in Baltimore and many of those street people landed in our facility as they aged, and presented real problems for us because we had limited authority to control and prescribe. They did however, live on a separate, locked wing. Not that I personally believe we should drug them all into zombies – just making the point that psychiatry is still a mystery and there is no magic pill.

Trump is loyal to no one. I think what he said here is that he doesn’t care about the NRA. Remember early in the primaries when he insisted he was the NRA’ public enemy #1? As many have said, he just makes whatever he thinks will make him a winner in the moment. Has anybody noticed his vocabulary as expanded to 2 and 3 syllable words? He’s “like, really really smart” (snort)

Digital background check systems. Gun research funding. Mandatory protection systems for guns and gun owners. Gun owner liability for unsecured guns used in crimes and suicides. Mandatory sentencing. Bullet taxes. Gun traceability. Gun owner permits and annual renewals including mental health screening. Gun industry liability for gun deaths; just like tobacco companies have. Maximum gun allowances per household without exemptions justified. Gun free zones for schools, parks, public spaces, homes with felons, domestic violence and abuse. Ban on selling guns out of state or to someone out of state. Bans on many gun and bullet types. Ban on online gun/bullet sales. Background checks on every bullet purchase.

    • brionbact
      March 1, 2018 @ 12:41 pm

READ the 2nd Amendment AND the supporting documents of debate by the Founders – eg Hamilton Federalist Papers 59(i think). Then READ Scalia’s Heller v DC majority opinion. You’ll know then that NO individual American had a right to have any gun until 2008!! AND you’ll know that all the gun controls I mention would be fine under Heller !! You get a gun but you got to show you are responsible, and you only get guns that have a legitimate purpose — no hand grenades or cannons, right? no semi-automatics, no 100 clips either! There were far more people with far greater personal interest in starting a Civil War to preserve slavery than the number of gun nuts who’d start a war to keep their gun arsenals. Go ahead, you wackos would be arrested, shot, loose all gun rights in any. PS: you’ll learn from reading that Militia ONLY referred to a STATE sanctioned and trained militia — not these citizen militia/terrorist cells you may belong to.

    • Mr Tweak
      March 1, 2018 @ 1:01 pm

brionbact now where did you ever come up with that idea. Those same exact things happen in many states. Those states still have a high rate of gun death. The Supreme Court already states the founders intent for individual firearm ownership. If that wasn’t the case then all other rights are strictly a collective right and not an individual right!
Ohh! So now that type of thought concerns you!!!!! You don’t have your free speech or your right to a fair trial only the collective does. 🤪

Here are a few things that show the Electoral College choose the right person to be President

Before I go on let me be perfectly clear that if it wasn’t for Barack and Hillary interfering with Trump’s Presidency these things would not have happened

    and the Russian hacking/Wikileaks thing

and the “Russia, if you can find those Hillary emails”, thing

and the bro-love between TrumPutin thing

Plain and simple, GUNS are the Problem, NOT the Solution! “Right to bare arms” never included assault weapons PERIOD! NRA purposely sells guns to anyone, good or bad people. The bad guys use NRA weapons for terror and the answer NRA gives is you need more guns to stop the bad guys. THAT IS MENTAL. It only benefits the NRA, no one else. NRA does NOT care about Americans, they only care about GUN SALES, NRA LOVES it when BAD people use the weapons for terror so they can sell more guns for so called protection. Yet they have no concern for safety, if they did they wouldn’t create weapons that shoot more bullets faster with larger clips for civilian use. NRA purposely wants to allow literally anyone to purchase weapons with NO concern for outcome.

Darren Goldsbury AR-15s are not assault weapons…because assault weapons are automatic, just lile the ones I used for 13 years and on multiple combat tours. Civilian AR-15s are not auto. Learn facts, just like AR-15 stands for Amralite Rifle number 15 not assault rifle.

This was funny to watch, but truth be told once his advisors, senior Republicans, and NRA members get back to the Moron-in-Chief he will do a complete turnaround on most of what he said there and say the complete opposite.  The White House press department has to be scrambling right now to once again tell us “what the President really meant,” which of course will be nothing resembling what he actually said during that meeting.   LMAO

  24. Willam Unknown

The thought of raising the age to buy an AR-15 from 18 to 21 is really negligible.  What it does show, however, is that the NRA refuses to give even an inch toward passing sensible gun control.

Automatic rifles , at the very least, should be banned! What possible good intent would anyone have to purchase an automatic weapon? Also, a child brought to the USA has no criminal intent. Should they be punished for the actions of their parents? No. Just as Trump’s children should not be held accountable for his actions.
