I’m not giving up my faith in democracy. We may need a comprehensive system of checks and balances for capitalism . How is it that our elected representatives, nearly all, manage to amass tremendous wealth as professional politicians . Living a lifestyle of comfort and security far in excess and beyond that of the overwhelming majority of the citizenry ?

Our faith in democracy erodes because we elected a guy to be president and the media and the opposition party are trying to use lies and tricks to get him removed. If you asked me if I was worried about our democracy, I’d say yes, and it’s not because Trump won.

We watch you American peoples wishing and going for a civil war. Who’s going to win and how many died in the name a fighting fake fascism? From Canada, we wish you the best and hope for peace. I study world war since I am 15 years old. The peoples at the head of both sides will be the first target. After a journalist, a congress member, a mother, children, a grandfather on one side will get seriously injured, the other side will do the same. Be careful what you wish for. Because in a war, the children will be the first one to suffer. It is sad to see you guys handling that situation. Instead of using your head to stop that awful immigration policy, you working, speaking about and hoping that the situation get worse. So sad 🙁

What I will never understand is how an imbecile, an incompetent, an ignoramus narcissist unlawful clown took a country that was seen in the world stage as the beacon of freedom, of democracy, of real power to its lowest point ever.

Adding too much yeast to fermenting bread dough will give you a voluminous loaf of little interior substance. A feast for the eyes that flattens with discontent at those unfortunate enough to try to savor a slice. Is the current American political condition far removed from the disappointment of a similar comparison?

I started worrying for democracy in America when Trump started running, debates and rallies were all leading to this authoritarian nature of government.

Who we are is a people who would rather burn our nation to the ground than to share it with people of color, many of who worked to build this nation. Liberals or no liberals, this could not be happening if we as a nation really found it as abhorrent as we should as human beings. Being in denial, or too lazy to stand up to the racism and xenophobia that Trumpism breeds makes us equally complicit. If those were our “own” being banned for their religion, having their families ripped apart, being shot dead by the police, we would not be giving Trumpism the benefit of the doubt, but we do because, as Putin suspects, we are not as dedicated to having an open free society as we claim. We have already gone far down the path of abdicating our democratic rights to our complacency. I just pray that we can actually stand in the values we claim we have enough to retake our country.

trump’s autocratic overtures are something new, but this has been a problem growing in the shadows since McCarthyism… this will not end with trump, and it will happen again if we do not bar ideologues from holding any public office or trust.

This Liberal Propaganda segment is totally WRONG!!! We the Good, Smart and Well-informed People of America are satisfied by which our President is handling the business of this nation. He is by far Superior in leadership quality to that of FAILED RADICAL CON-MAN Barack Hussein Obama. His America First Agenda for this country is fully supported by ALL the intelligent citizens who want to see this nation rise from the ashes left behind by the CON-MAN.

    IN TRUMP WE TRUST!
    AMERICA FIRST!
    MAGA!
    GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

The Prince of Lies is quite literally the Anti-Christ, and it would be delicious irony, if it were not so tragic, that the most aggressively and violently Christian people are the main supporters of the Anti-Christ. It would make a great movie, but it is a horror show of a Reality.

The biggest reason democracy is failing is because Democrats gave the minority the idea that they have equal say to the majority. The level of paranoia in the left is disturbing

You as a people have to “grow up” and get over this idea that you can choose to vote ! The right to vote and the “responsibility” to vote are the things that will help guarantee your Liberty and not destroy it as you have been told to in the past. The American voting system has to be overhauled completely, the electoral college has to be done away with as a corrupt and outdated system that does not work as has been proved ! Americans stop waving flags and blowing smoke up your own arses and look at what is happening to your country under this POTUS, he is undermining all of the pillars of your society society so that he can reduce it to the lowest common denominator and allow him and his family to make a lot of money and leave your nation holding the bag ?

Trump is the manifestation of stupidity in America. Our schools have failed to teach kids how to think. Our news has been about entertainment for too long. Hopefully this disaster proves to be a learning experience rather than a complete annihilation of our democracy.

I think we are in serious danger and Trump is absolutely the most divisive person in american history. Trump absolutely called the travel ban a Muslim ban until his minders told him he made a mistake. The conservatives are dangerous and the tyranny of Trump is just what they want. If we don’t stop him soon it will be too late.

I saw the disinformation campaign happening years ago on the internet. I was discussing this with a friend who is a high ranked military intelligence official and expressed my belief that it was an intelligence/propoganda war meant to undermine our credibility as a country and our faith in the democratic process. He didn’t say anything but tapped his nose with his index finger a couple times. I took that as an affirmation of my deduction.

There’s absolutely no evidence out there that Trump colluded with the Russians… except the Manafort thing, and the Flynn thing, and the Roger Stone thing, and the Cohen thing, and the Kushner thing, and the Carter Page thing, and the Jeff Sessions things, and the Wilbur Ross thing, and the JD Gordon thing, and the Erik Prince thing, and the James Comey firing thing, and the Russian hacking/Wikileaks thing, and the bro-love between TrumPutin thing, and the Russian propaganda machine favoring Trump thing, and the DJT “I have zero ties to Russia!” thing, and the Eric Trump “we get most of our financing from Russian banks thing”, and the Donald Trump Jr. “Our portfolio is made up of a disproportionate amount of Russian money” thing, and the DJT “I sold a $60 million mansion to a Russian oligarch known for money laundering for $120 million that he never once lived in ” thing, and the Trump business ties with Putin’s favorite sports athlete Fedor Emilianenko thing, and the Trump International Corporation’s mysterious private server connection to Alfa Bank, Russia’s largest commercial bank thing, and the Special prosecutor being named thing, and the I won’t release my tax returns thing, and the Ivanka Trump’s vacationing with Putin’s girlfriend thing, and the 2013 Miss Universe Pageant in Moscow thing, and the Trump companies business ties to Felix Sater, a criminal felon indicted for stock fraud scheme with the Russian mafia thing, and the FL Group Icelandic hedge fund with massive ties to Putin being heavily invested in Trump Soho thing, and the Rex Tillerson/Exxon ties to Russia thing, and the Russian ambassador at Trump Tower sneaking in and out thing, and the Trump tried to roll back Russian sanctions the minute he got elected thing. Other than that, there’s absolutely no reason to suspect anything.

Applied social psychologists call the type of social decay that now afflicts the USA “anomie”. The antidote is education. Experience elsewhere suggests it takes generations for a country to recover.
